Tasmania

Tasmania
Tasmania is an island state known for its protected parks and nature reserves, and their history. Hobart is the capital of Tasmania and a laid back city with beautiful sceneries, fine dining and historical buildings. Go and explore the streets and laneways around Hobart, there are many One of the places in Hobart that you should check out is Salamanca Market. Salamanca Market is unique because of its historical sandstone warehouses of past colonial era. Today, the sandstone warehouses are use for shops and tourists to visit. Salamanca Market has unique vintage shops, fresh produce shops and groups of artisans making locally custom gifts and souvenirs.

Mount Wellington
To see a mountaintop scenery of Hobart, go to Mount Wellington. You can drive or take a bus tour from Hobart to Mount Wellington. I went via a tour bus and got to see the view. It is a lot colder on the top of the mountain, make sure to bring extra layers. It can snow during the winter on the mountain.

Port Arthur
About an hour drive from Hobart, Port Arthur is another tourist destination to check out. Port Arthur was once a timber station and then changed into a prison for convicts in 1830. Prisoners were chained and punished in their cells. Parts of the prison has collapsed over time. There are ghost tours at night for the Port Arthur prison that you could have a look at. You can take a cruise around to the Isle of the Dead where you can learn more about how the people were place into prison and their journeys.

Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain is located in St Clair National Park. The mountain is popular for its  beautiful natural scenery and peacefulness.  It is 2.5 hours drive from Launceston. I took a bus tour up to Cradle Mountain and saw the many differences in landscapes along the way. It would change from swamps, cliffs to dense bushland. It is great for bushwalking, exploring the wilderness and taking photos. I took a bus tour to Cradle Mountain. At the peak of Cradle Mountain, there is a large lake surrounded by small native deciduous beech trees. It also sometimes snows at Cradle Mountain.

Bristowe Lavender Estate
Between December and January, lavenders will bloom and fields in farms like in Bristowe Estate will turn a bright purple. This is a great photo opportunity and to check out the lavender gifts and souvenirs. It is located in Tasmania's North East. They sell many lavender products including dried lavender, lavender oils, soap, honey, jams, jelly, ice-cream and lavender itself as food and decoration. Many people have bought lavender bears, which are teddy bears that have been stuffed with lavender.  I decided to try the lavender ice-cream, it tasted sweet and fragrant.
